The environmental impacts of the processes developed were investigated during recent years based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. This step is essential when comparing them with existing processes on an environmental basis. Nevertheless, this approach has a major disadvantage, since a "bench scale" process is compared with well optimized "industrial scale" processes. To overcome this problem, a methodology called prospective LCA is developed and used (long-term collaboration with G-SCOP, a laboratory specialized in LCA and eco-design).
